Pat Rodgers (Luciew)

I have received this sad news from Nana Sikora Simons just now. We lost Pat after a three year battle with cancer.

Pat was a sweet girl. I remember her from OPRFHS  when she dated my dear friend Rod Sher, Class of 58, who died last year. Pat lived on Lake St. I believe.

I''

Pat was such a good friend, and she had the best smile ever. She came with us to our dude ranch in Idaho one summer, and we had the best time, riding the trails, swimming, waterskiing, and just loving Idaho life on the ranch. After high school, I got to see her several times, when I went back to visit my mother, and we just picked up where we'd left off years before. We reconnected the last time at the 50th reunion, and I expected to see her again this fall, but it was not meant to be. I will miss her, but I will remember the good times we had together.

Pat and I were friends since I moved to Oak Park in the 8th grade and attended Holmes.  We never dated but remained friends, didn't see her again until an organizational meeting for the 25th that I attended while in town on business.  Pat welcomed me as if it were yesterday that we all graduated.  We talked about our cancers the last couple of years and wished each other good luck thit the battle.  I am really sad that she is gone, a truly nice person and there are not so many of them around any more.  Bye Pat, I would give you one more hug if I only could.

I didn't really get to know Pat until after high school and did so thru Sally West and she was, as everyone who knew her,  the sweetest person.  It was a shock to read her name on the memory list on my e-mail.  So sad and we all think of ourselves as too young but losing more and more dear friends.  RIP Pat.

I too am so sorry to hear we lost another great classmate. I remember when she was sitting in her desk the beginning of our 4ht grade at Holmes. She was a great new friend and she lived across the street from Zehder (sp?) and Factor drugstore on Marion and Chicago. There were several of us who used to go there for the soda fountain and then we would play drug store cowboys and cowgirls outside. She lived next door to John Gilchrist on Marion while Pat Worth and Dick Prauss also lived close by. Oh what memories!! My sincere condolences to her family. She will be missed but not the memories.

I love that photo of Pat on the white horse.  She was one of my friends for the four years I lived in Oak Park and attended OPRF.  We had many adventures to share and laugh over, along with Sally West, Eloise Guimont and Gloria DeBiase.  She was a dear person and was a big part of my teen years.  I've never forgotten her or the fun times we all shared.  She was a sweetheart and loved by many..
