I am so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing.  Although sadly we lost touch over the years we were very close friends for much of our lives, including being each other’s “Best Man”.  Although Bill had a brilliant mind he was always just one of the guys.  One memory from High School is when one of us were preparing to call for a date we would make a list of conversation topics to use in case the call didn’t go well, as it often didn’t.  My condolences to Bill’s wife Mary and the entire Schmitendorf family.  Rest In Peace, Schmitty.   Sincerely, Bill Vasey

"Schmitty" was one of the cherished group of guys we paled around with at DOOP back in the 50's.  Bill was a very unique individual, an all around good guy who truly excelled at just about everything he encountered.  Though as Bill Vasey  has said, we lost touch in later years, I have every confidence that he continued to be the great guy he always was known for as well as a man whose personna will be missed by many on this earth.  RIP Schmitty.

Bill and I walked into our commencement together, I was abit uptight but Bill was laid back and enjoying the moment...I think that's the way he lived life...really a fun guy!

My condolences the Schmitendorf family.  Bill (Schmitty) and I go back sixty plus years.  We were very close friends to the point of his parents becoming my second set of parents. We did lose touch over the years but I willl never forget the great times we had in those early years.  Some memories:  The family car...two-tone Easter egg colored ford, his mom’s chocolate cookies, poker games and watching cub games are just a few memories.
