I remember Mel as one of my friends when we were small. He was always a great guy.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Mel's transition. He and I met in kindergarted and went all the way through school together to graduation from Loyola University. He was a wonderful friend all those years, and we had many great times and laughs together. We lost touch in the late 60s. If I knew where your grave was, Mel, I would go and leave a stone.
Fondly,
Suz

I am saddened by Mel's passing. I do not know when he died or the cause, but he was a great guy and good friend...full of ideas and interests. We lost contact after college. He enrolled at Miamai of Ohio, but I have fond memories of trying to figure out what was going to be on Miss Oxborrow's exams in US History, of working together at Jackson Storage and Van during the summers and of trying to penatrate the offices of Playboy Magazine by trying to contact a "fashion" rep there (his idea) I recall that Mel made a trip to Havana, Cuba in late 1959 or early 1960 and was in Cuba about the time Castro's troops were approaching...thereby view history as it was made.

Mel was in the Peace Corps in Cali, Colombia and fluent in Spanish. While there he contacted mucus colitus. I don't remember that Mel went to Cuba in 1959, but I do remember that his parents used to like go to vacation in Havana during the 50's. Cuba, then, was like Vegas is now. He also became a "Purser" on international flights for TWA during the mid to late 60's. He and I worked together at TWA in reservations.
