John J. Staunton VIEW PROFILE

John J.J. Staunton, 75, a longtime Oak Park resident, died on November 25, 2017 in the Florida everglades, doing what he enjoyed most--travelling around the world taking videos and photographs.

John graduated from OPRFHS and DePaul University. For 32 years he work for Montgomery Wards as a computer programer. He always loved classic music, playing tympani and percussion with the Symphony of Oak Park-River Forest for 59 years, the longest tenure of any member. He also sang in the St. Edmund Church choir from its inception

John is survived by two sisters and three brothers. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered in the beautiful Oregon Cascade Mountains.

A memorial service will be held at St. Edmund Church on January 6, 2018 at 11a.m.

I'll always remember John tuning his kettle drums.  It was a work of art.
