Russ would come over and talk sports with my mother--she thought he was great...and he was.

I remember a group of us all gathering at different people's houses, and Russ always had something funny or off the wall to say. Another classmate who is missed and gone too soon...

I remember sitting in the hospital with Russ after he broke his leg at football practice. Our standard saying (we both played defensive end) was "Meet you at the quarterback." Russ was a good guy and I will really miss not seeing him.

Russ Graves was one of those great guys. You could not help but enjoy being with Russ after school or on weekends. The problem was, Russ was a closet "dare devil" who knew no bounds to what he would try.....just for the hell of it.
Once on Christmas break while a group of classmates were at a toboggan slide (one of us had brought a new toboggan they got for Christmas) and before anyone else could use it, Russ grabbed it, went down the slide and broke it in half. Another time, while going to Las Vegas by car while on break (I was not there) Russ was driving, it was late at night, he fell asleep behind the wheel and rolled the car in the ditch somewhere in Kansas. I think it was Dave Gordon's mothers' car.
He was the first of our group of buddies to go.
There was no "down time" when you were with Russ. He was and is missed. BH
