Carol passed away on Oct. 31 at her home in Gloucester, Massachusetts, of cancer. I was sorry to hear of Carol Nieter Ackerman's passing. I have fond memories of Carol chauffering our group of friends around in her enormous (by today's standards) car. I also remember her mother's courage in being a chapperone for 11 girls on a Canadian canoe trip, which I still remember vividly.
